Sign-up for all ages opens June 5th! Come visit the library to register, pick up your reading logs, and join the fun!

The Freeport Public Library’s 2023 Summer Reading Program invites readers of all ages to track their reading progress and meet reading goals. ”All Together Now” is this year’s theme, and program events will run from early June until early August. The celebration will also be reflected in weekly themes of unity, friendship, family, and community!

The theme is provided by the Collaborative Library Summer Program (CLSP) a non-profit organization that supports literacy, education, and science through summer reading events in public libraries across the United States.

Have you heard of the summer slide?

Studies show that children lose significant knowledge in reading and math over summer break. Preventing summer learning loss can seem daunting, but by engaging in educational activities throughout the summer, you can help your kids start the next school year ready to learn! Prevent the “summer slide” and join the Freeport Public Library Summer Reading Program! We host free fun activities for the whole family all summer long!

Aside from tracking your reading, you can attend free programs and activities at the library like:

  • The Multigenerational Volunteer Project
  • Youth, Teen, and Adult Crafts
  • Virtual Lectures
  • Storytimes
  • Financial Workshops
  • Special Performances
  • Tie-Dye Parties
  • Family Bingo
  • The Reptiles & Amphibians Show
  • Special Teen Programs
  • The End of Summer Party!

The last day to turn in your Reading Logs is Saturday, August 5th.
